Yuka is a native of Japan and graduated from the Showa Academia Musicae with a degree in piano performance. Her teachers have included, Toyoo Asakawa (Showa Academia Musicae), Akihiro Okumura (Showa Academia Musicae), Kenji Watanabe (Tokyo University of the Arts), and Amy Dorfman (Blair School of Music, Vanderbilt University).

Yuka played as a professional piano accompanist for Seiki Amemiya who is a well known vocalist of Japanese traditional songs from 1997 to 2002. In 1998, she founded and directed the adult choir “Rose”, which had numerous live performances as well as an appearance on the television show "Yamanashi Ongaku no Kaze" which was a weekly music program in Yamanashi Prefecture. In 2001 and 2002 , she performed with Toyoharu Sakuma, a former principle cellist for Tokyo national orchestra, at concerts in Yamanashi, Japan. She has accompanied many chorus groups as well.

Since 2011, Yuka has performed in the Baltimore and Washington DC area with a fellow pianist Miri Terashima as the piano duo Yuka and Miri. With a shared understanding of music (Yuka and Miri are both conservatory trained musicians) and motherhood (Emon is 2, Akira is 11)  they are developing performances that showcase their shared passion for music and motherhood.

Yuka has been teaching piano to children and adults for over 20 years and is a member of Music Teachers National Association, Music Teachers Maryland State Music Teachers Association, and Music Teachers Association Greater Baltimore. She has been living in the United States since 2002 and in Baltimore since 2009.
